Companioning Grief in Social Work

In this MUM episode, Bridget Ferris, a licensed clinical social worker based out of Philadelphia, shares how her journey led her to a fulfilling career in social work, focusing on grief counseling and providing support to those facing the end of life or dealing with loss.

About Bridget Ferris:

Bridget Ferris experienced the sudden death of a friend in 2011 as a young adult and has been drawn to grief work ever since. She is a licensed clinical social worker based out of Philadelphia, PA who has been walking shoulder to shoulder with individuals and families navigating health crises and various stages of grief via her work in adult hospitals for the past 10 years. She has also spent many hours volunteering at Camp Erin, a children’s bereavement camp as a Grief Chief or clinical lead for various groups of children. She is drawn to grief work because she recognizes that people are in deep pain and feels the American culture does not support people the way they need. She hopes to have an impact on people’s lived experience with grief by normalizing and building community with those living with it.

She recently started a private psychotherapy practice with a focus on grief to continue this important work.
